Rare Earth Elements: For many years I've explored the Texas Hill Country, on the weekends, in search of gold, silver and other rare elements. In 2012, while prospecting on a ranch belonging to a friend of mine, I discovered a mineral deposit that turned out to be rich in terbium, gadolinium, holmium and other Rare Earth Elements. Unfortunately the element thorium is also abundant in this area, so concentration of the REE's is problematic at best. Perhaps alternative extraction and concentration methods may be used to successfully and safely concentrate these valuable and strategic elements.
Until then, this vast storehouse of mineral wealth will remain where it is, somewhere under the ancient landscape of Central Texas.
Gold: A few miles east of Luling, Texas and a few miles south of Harwood, in 1903 drillers who were after oil penetrated a strata of sandstone a couple hundred feet below the surface. One of the drillers, a man who had mined gold in Mexico, noticed what appeared to be small particles of gold in the drill cuttings. It turned out the sandstone layer contained a broadly disseminated and truly vast amount of gold. Estimates are the gold bearing zone was perhaps 80 feet thick in places and covered up to 10 square miles. A gold rush ensued with billions of dollars of capital flowing into the area and dozens of test pits being dug. Unfortunately, most of the gold bearing zone is overlain by soft sand that is saturated with water... basically quicksand. In 1903 the technology did not exist to economically mine this vast deposit and the project was eventually abandoned.
Such is not the case today. All it takes is investment capital and the right team to tap into what may rival the gold deposits of South Africa.
My personal sampling and prospecting of this area has led me to believe significant deposits of gold exist in regions where the gold bearing strata is closer to the surface and more easily mined, using environmentally sound methods.

Platinum Group Metals: I have evidence a significant deposit of platinum exists in Texas in an area few have thought to look. Research is ongoing.
